Streamlined Workflows and Enhanced Surgical Coordination
Integration of existing surgical equipment and imaging systems into a unified Digital Operating Room environment, enabling centralized visualization, efficient workflow management, and improved access to clinical information. The General Hospital of Katerini aimed to enhance coordination among surgical teams, reduce complexity during procedures, and introduce capabilities for recording and documentation, while maintaining uninterrupted clinical operation. The project required seamless interoperability between heterogeneous systems and intuitive usability to ensure smooth adoption by all users.
Comprehensive Digital OR Implementation at Katerini Hospital
The project included the implementation of an EIZO CuratOR Digital Operating Room solution, including CuratOR EX3242 4K surgical monitors for high-resolution display, the CuratOR Surgical Panel SP2-24-494K (flush-mounted) for centralized control and display management, and CuratOR Caliop for video management, signal routing, documentation, and centralized system control.
The installation also incorporates a video grabber for recording, a streamer for live transmission, and an audio system (microphone and speakers) to support real-time communication and teleconferencing.
The integrated solution enables:
- Flexible management of medical device signals and their routing to surgical monitors
- Direct connection with the Radiology Department (PACS) for retrieval of preoperative patient imaging
- Recording of surgical procedures through the video grabber
- Live streaming of multiple video sources for educational and medical purposes
- Teleconferencing capabilities between the surgical team and external participants
- Scalability for future connection and upgrade of additional operating rooms within the hospital
All components are integrated into a unified system, ensuring centralized control, seamless signal distribution, and reliable operation within the surgical environment.
Improved Efficiency and Clinical Value Through a Unified Digital OR
The implementation delivers measurable value by simplifying complex workflows and improving overall efficiency within the operating room. Centralized control of imaging and data reduces cognitive load and allows clinicians to focus more on the procedure itself.
Enhanced interoperability ensures seamless access to patient information and imaging, supporting faster and more informed decision-making. At the same time, recording and documentation capabilities contribute to improved training, knowledge sharing, and quality assurance.
The intuitive design of the system supports rapid user adoption, while its modular architecture ensures future scalability and long-term sustainability of the investment.
Do You Have a Special Requirement?
"It will greatly improve the speed of surgical procedures and minimize potential errors that could occur during an operation."
"It enhances overall quality by reducing surgical time and providing the surgeon with immediate access to all relevant patient examinations."
"We are now ready to seamlessly interconnect our hospital systems, such as HIS, LIS, and PACS, enabling a more efficient and integrated clinical workflow."
Conclusion
