The hospital’s central emergency room was faced with the task of displaying a large amount of medical information – including CT images, vital signs, patient data and live images – quickly, securely and clearly on large screens. The requirements for the system were high: robust, hygienic monitors, continuous operation, immediate availability and ease of use under great time pressure. The existing technology was no longer able to meet these requirements and therefore had to be put out to tender again.
Solution
The hospital opted for the EIZO system with 55-inch 4K large screens (CuratOR Surgical Panel) and the Large Monitor Manager LMM0802-HDM. Working closely with EIZO and specialist dealer SQ-Labs, the system was tailored precisely to the clinical requirements. The display is also streamed for teaching and monitoring via encoders. The system automatically displays all relevant information in a fixed layout – without the need to switch between emergencies – thus enabling smooth and efficient operation.
Result
The EIZO system was successfully put into operation without any training phase and has been working reliably ever since. It contributes significantly to patient safety by displaying all relevant data centrally, clearly and immediately – especially in critical situations. The solution not only meets current requirements, but is also well equipped for future developments in everyday clinical practice thanks to its streaming and networking capabilities. Further expansion steps are already being planned.

Special Requirements in the Emergency Room
At the University Hospital Rechts der Isar in Munich, research plays a central role alongside excellent medical care – in line with the motto ‘Knowledge creates healing’. This high standard also applies to the central interdisciplinary emergency room, where fast, accurate and comprehensive information availability is essential for providing optimal patient care. In the state-of-the-art trauma room, which has been in operation since 2014 and has a directly connected CT area including a control room, numerous critical data sources converge – including CT images, vital parameters, patient data, a stopwatch and live images from the helicopter landing pad. This information must be displayed reliably, in high resolution and under extreme time pressure on large screens. The technology must function continuously and at the same time be particularly robust, hygienic and ready for immediate use. As the existing system no longer met these requirements, the hospital decided in 2020 to put the image display technology out to tender again.
The All-Inclusive Package
The EIZO system, which offers outstanding value for money, not only meets all technical requirements, it is also a ‘comprehensive, worry-free package when it comes to use in the trauma room,’ says Fritz Seidl, explaining the decision to choose EIZO. In several initial meetings and project discussions with EIZO’s specialist dealer SQ-Labs, and with the involvement of all relevant employees from the fields of medical technology, IT and the management of the emergency room and trauma surgery, the required scope of services was clearly defined once again.
A CuratOR Surgical Panel is used in both the trauma room and the CT room. These large screens, each with a 55-inch diagonal screen size and 4K resolution, display the same video signals in a layout with six display windows. The EIZO Large Monitor Manager LMM0802-HDM handles the image signal distribution. This has 8 HDMI signal inputs and 2 outputs. One of the two output signals is made available for streaming via an encoder. Using three EIZO DuraVision Encoder DX0211-IP devices, the information from the emergency room can also be accessed via stream in the network of the Technical University of Munich (TUM), e.g. for teaching purposes and in the monitoring room. The University Hospital is now well equipped for future applications.
