EIZO Solution for a Multi-Modality Cath Lab

Challenge

As part of the modernisation of its specialist heart and lung department, Harefield Hospital (part of the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust) was looking for a solution to improve visualisation in the operating theatre. The aim was to implement flexible, networked image display with centralised control – with minimal impact on existing infrastructure.

Solution

Integration of a customised EIZO CuratOR system including the LMM video management system and CuratOR Control Panel. The solution enables central control and display of a wide variety of image sources on large wall displays and clear touch panels.

Result

Surgical teams benefit from clear, synchronised live images and intuitive control of the image material. Work processes in the operating theatre have been significantly accelerated, room organisation improved and technical sources of error minimised. Future expansions are also easily possible thanks to the open system architecture.

Centralised Visualisation in the OR Poses a Complex Challenge for Harefield Hospital

Harefield Hospital, one of the UK’s leading transplant centres, was faced with the task of modernising several operating theatres. The biggest challenge was to centrally visualise and operate a wide variety of medical devices and image sources without disrupting workflows in the operating theatre. In addition, there were requirements for future-proof system integration and ease of use by medical staff.

EIZO Sets New Standards with LMM and Touch Panel Control

EIZO implemented a scalable video management system consisting of the Large Monitor Manager (LMM) and the user-friendly CuratOR Control Panel. These components enable up to six different video sources – such as endoscopes, ultrasound or PACS – to be displayed simultaneously in HD quality. The configuration was carried out in close coordination with clinical requirements and spatial conditions. In addition, the system can be operated directly from the sterile area via a touch panel – a clear advantage in terms of efficiency and hygiene.

Structured, Hygienic, Future-proof

The installation of the EIZO CuratOR system at Harefield Hospital brought numerous benefits for medical staff and the entire operating theatre organisation. Centralised image control eliminates the need to switch frequently between different devices – all relevant image sources, such as endoscopy, ultrasound or PACS, can be displayed simultaneously and in high resolution. Intuitive operation via a touch panel enables fast, safe control directly from the sterile area, thereby contributing significantly to efficiency and hygiene. Thanks to the open system architecture, the setup remains flexibly expandable and can be adapted to new technical or clinical requirements at any time.
