Clear capture and imaging in surgical procedures is vital for training physicians, enhancing patient understanding, and advancing medical research. It allows real-life observation, visual explanations of treatments, and detailed analysis of techniques and outcomes. EIZO’s CuratOR range includes monitors, recording solutions, and cameras to support these needs with high-quality visualization. The new SC431, a key component of this “Imaging Chain”, is a surgical field camera system that captures images in 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160) with a progressive 60 Hz signal, ensuring smooth, high-definition images of the surgical field.
A 30x optical zoom lens allows the camera to zoom into small target areas, capturing narrow surgical sites in remarkable detail. The camera is fully integrated with a mount, offering a pan of +/- 170 degrees, a tilt range of +90 to -30 degrees, and a roll range of +/-200 degrees. This allows for flexible adjustment of the field of view to the optimal position. Pan and tilt movements remain parallel to the field of view, regardless of the roll position, providing seamless control.
The SC431 is equipped with EIZO's new proprietary Image Shake Stabilizer function, which reduces chronic micro-vibrations, such as those caused by air conditioning units, as well as subtle jitter when zooming. Additionally, the camera’s Knee function reduces halation from surgical lights, while the Black Stretch function enhances visibility in dark areas of the image. Together these functions ensure optimal, well-balanced image capture, even in shadowless or low light environments.
The Camera Control Unit (CCU) is equipped with 12G-SDI and HDMI® terminals for 4K UHD video output and 3G-SDI and HDMI terminals for Full HD video output. With the ability to output all signals simultaneously, users can preview and record in both 4K and Full HD, even in environments with mixed devices. The camera head and CCU are conveniently connected via a single dedicated cable that provides video and audio signal transmission as well as power supply. This streamlines installation while also reducing cable clutter.
The CuratOR SC431 surgical field camera system seamlessly integrates with the CuratOR MIR-1 4K medical imaging recorder and CuratOR EX series of monitors for the operating room. Together, these solutions provide comprehensive visualization throughout the “Imaging Chain” to support the critical need for precise and clear imaging, ultimately contributing to quality education, patient care, and medical innovation.
The CuratOR SC431 will begin shipping in July 2025. The date of availability may vary by country or region. Contact the nearest EIZO group company or distributor for details.
