EIZO Introduces Its First 27-Inch 4K UHD Surgical Monitor, Expanding Lineup for Endoscopy, Microsurgery, and Robot-Assisted Surgery

EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today announced the CuratOR EX2742, the first 27-inch 4K model in the CuratOR EX-Series of surgical and endoscopy monitors. This new addition expands EIZO’s lineup, which previously ranged from 32 to 55 inches, and delivers ultra high-definition 4K imaging in a 27-inch footprint designed for modern operating environments.

As surgical techniques become more refined and less invasive, the need for precise and reliable visualization has become increasingly central to medical practice. Procedures such as endoscopy, microsurgery, and robot-assisted surgery rely on visual feedback and often involve intricate anatomical structures. In these settings, clear and detailed imaging plays a vital role in helping surgeons perform with greater control and assurance.

The EX2742’s 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) displays four times more information than Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels), faithfully reproducing 4K video captured by surgical microscopes, endoscopes, and robotic-assisted surgical systems. This level of detail helps reveal subtle visual elements that may be missed on standard Full HD monitors. To ensure these fine details remain clearly visible throughout the image, the monitor features a high brightness of 820 cd/m² and contrast ratio of 2000:1 for accurately rendering highlights and shadows. Optical bonding further enhances visibility by filling the air gap between the monitor’s protective glass and LCD panel, reducing reflections under surgical lighting and preserving depth in darker tones.

The monitor’s 27-inch format offers a practical balance between image clarity and space efficiency. It provides ample screen space for full visibility at close viewing distances, supporting natural eye movement during procedures. The monitor’s compact footprint allows for flexible installation in space-constrained environments, with support for ceiling mounted arms and wall fixtures.

The EX2742 is equipped with an RS-232C communication port, enabling control and integration with external devices. For example, it integrates seamlessly with EIZO CuratOR MIR-1 medical imaging recorder, allowing the display of a red tally indicator on-screen during recording. This allows medical staff to confirm recording status without shifting their attention away from the surgical field. Together, these solutions provide comprehensive visualization across the surgical “Imaging Chain”, contributing to improved education, patient care, and medical innovation.

With the introduction of the EX2742, EIZO builds on its commitment to surgical imaging by offering a solution that supports the visual demands of today’s operating rooms, while aligning with the advancement of personalized, accurate, and minimally invasive care central to precision medicine.
