As surgical teams increasingly rely on sharper, more consistent visualization to navigate complex procedures, monitors must deliver clear anatomical detail and precise contrast. To meet these demands, EIZO developed the flagship EX3245H, its first monitor equipped with a Mini LED backlight. Conventional edge-lit monitors position LEDs along the edges of the screen, limiting backlight control and weakening contrast. EX3245H employs a high-density, full-array Mini LED backlight to achieve a peak brightness of 1900 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.
In many Mini LED monitors, high LED density can result in significant heat generation and increased power consumption at high brightness levels. As a protective measure, aggressive automatic dimming is often activated when bright content fills the screen, reducing overall luminance by as much as half and altering tonal balance in surgical footage. Leveraging decades of experience in its core color-critical display technologies, EIZO applies higher brightness thresholds to minimize unnecessary dimming, preserving stable luminance across a wider range of content. The EX3245H further refines image control by dividing the Mini LED backlight into more than 2,000 local dimming zones, managed by EIZO’s unique control algorithm. This enables precise, localized adjustment of brightness and contrast, clearly rendering fine blood vessels and tissue structures to support confident decision-making in the operating room.
To further enhance visibility, the EX3245H is equipped with EIZO’s in-house optical bonding, which fills the gap between the LCD module and cover glass with resin to reduce ambient reflections. This improves readability in bright surgical environments and preserves contrast even under strong overhead lighting.
Modern medical environments demand compatibility with both emerging and traditional video standards while keeping complexity to a minimum, especially in space-constrained installations. The EX3245H is equipped with a versatile set of inputs, including BNC (12G‑SDI), DisplayPort TM, and HDMI® inputs, all supporting a 4K UHD video signal at 60 frames per second. In addition, the EX3245H is the first EIZO monitor to offer an SDVoE (Software‑Defined Video over Ethernet) compatible model variation, delivering high-quality, low-latency 4K video at 60 frames per second over standard Ethernet networks. By carrying both video and remote control signals over a single optical fiber cable, the SDVoE model helps to streamline system architecture across operating rooms.
The monitor supports both AC and DC power input, providing flexibility for different power configurations. When using AC power, no external AC adapter is required, allowing for a cleaner and more space-efficient setup. For facilities that prefer DC operation to match their existing power infrastructure, EIZO offers a model that includes AC adapter so users can select the configuration that best suits their requirements. The monitor’s DC output supplies 5V/2A or 12V/2.5A (model without SDVoE only) to power external devices such as wireless transmitters, helping streamline the overall power setup for peripheral equipment.
A dedicated connector cover neatly conceals connection points to help maintain a safe and hygienic workspace. The slide-lock design requires no screws or tools, allowing the cover to be attached or removed effortlessly.
Front-facing control buttons allow quick and convenient access to monitor functions, with LED indicators that illuminate only during active operation to minimize distraction during procedures. Clear on-screen guidance further ensures smooth and intuitive operation.
