Image Display Update:

University Hospital Magdeburg Optimizes its Intervention Workflows with an EIZO Solution

The image display requirements for intervention at University Hospital Magdeburg outgrew their previous solution. Users required a more comprehensive and larger image view, as well as greater display flexibility and number of video sources. Together with its partner MTSE, EIZO was able to implement a technically impressive, budget-friendly solution.

For interventions, University Hospital Magdeburg needed a more flexible and larger image display to provide the physicians working with the system with the best possible working conditions for each intervention. This is now possible with the integrated EIZO solution.

  • Individual image display for every working physician
  • Flexible division on the large screen
  • More video sources can be displayed simultaneously

Initial situation

Previously, for interventions the hospital was working with an interventional CT and two 23” monitors. These were used to display the live images from the CT and the PACS image from the connected network side by side. The size of the two images, each displayed on a 23” monitor, was no longer sufficient for users. The solution also lacked the ability to connect and display additional video sources.

Optimal result through teamwork

A team effort by University Magdeburg, MTSE, and EIZO developed a customized concept that meets all customer requirements and sets a course for the future.

Daniel Rieger, MTSE Project Manager, declared himself satisfied: “The cooperation between EIZO and MTSE was very good. From preparation, to prestaging, to installation support, the project was well structured and carried out with enthusiasm."

Optimized and future-proof thanks to EIZO technology

The large EIZO RadiForce LL580W monitor is at the center of the concept. With its 58” screen size, 4K UHD resolution, and factory-based DICOM Part 14 calibration, it is ideal for use in interventional radiology. The EIZO Large Monitor Manager LMM0802 provides the video signal distribution. The CT live image, PACS images, and now up six additional video sources can be displayed simultaneously on the LL580W. Various layouts and window sizes can be easily adapted to the given application and the settings saved. Touch operation is intuitive with the EIZO CID1201P user interface.
Connection to a streaming component was part of the concept. This means University Hospital Magdeburg is prepared for future tasks, such as transmission to a lecture hall.

“The interventionalist has a greater overview, better image quality, and more distance from the monitor, and does not have to scroll through the target region. He can therefore navigate to the target more reliably and quickly."

Sebastian Hupfeld
Medical Physicist, University Hospital Magdeburg

“Users are very satisfied with the system. Now numerous signal sources in addition to CT and PACS images can be displayed. The various users also have different layouts, which means each can set his own focus.”
