EIZO Expands Its Surgical and Endoscopy Lineup with Release of High-Brightness 4K Surgical Monitor

Thursday, 2018 November 08
EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today announced the release of the CuratOR EX3241 – a 32-inch, 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) surgical monitor with high brightness, image sharpening technology, and optical bonding for clear and accurate viewing of endoscopy and microsurgery images.
PR EX3241 1

The EX3241 features 4K UHD resolution with high brightness. It is equipped with an energy efficient LED-backlit LCD panel producing a maximum brightness of 700 cd/m², reproducing 4K endoscopy and surgical microscope images in high resolution and high brightness. Furthermore, using EIZO’s Smart Resolution with Sparse Coding (S.R.S.C) proprietary technology, full HD images can be enhanced to a 4K resolution without any lag, making full use of the monitor’s 4K resolution.

4K UHD resolution can be transmitted via 12G-SDI (BNC), and DisplayPort 1.2 or HDMI via a single cable. When displaying 4K resolution with standard 3G-SDI, four cables are required – however with 12G-SDI, the EX3241 transmits 4K resolution at 60 frames per second through a single cable. Typically HDMI cables cannot be locked into a terminal but this monitor contains a specialized locking mechanism on its side specifically for HDMI. This ensures all cables can be locked onto the monitor for consistent and stable connection. The 12G-SDI (BNC) can transmit a signal over long distances of 30 meters.
The monitor features rounded corners to prevent injury when moved around the operating room, and features a fully flat design which has protection against foreign material and splashes to a level of IP45 on the front and IP32 in entirety. Cleaning and disinfection can be done safely and efficiently without damaging the monitor. It can also contain cables neatly in the supplied cable cover for safe and hygienic use.

The monitor’s protective glass has a hardness of 9H, making it resistant to impacts. Furthermore, the monitor is equipped with optical bonding which reduces the amount of reflections on the screen, for clear images even in bright operating rooms.

EIZO will be demonstrating the CuratOR EX3241 in Hall 10/H41 at Medica 2018 from November 12 to 15 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
